I think Spider-Man: Homecoming is the best of any Spider-Man film made to date. Spider-Man: Far From Home is a close second. Both of those capture the comic book essence of the character in a way no previous film was able to do, with Homecoming especially feeling like a Steve Ditko comic book come to life. This third installment in the franchise isn’t up the level of the first two films, but it’s still quite good, and a solid 3rd out of 8 when it comes to Spider-Man movies.
One problem some of the earlier Spider-Man films had was juggling too many villains at once, yet No Way Home manages to juggle more than any other film– 5 of ’em!– in effortless fashion. The choice to keep them together, and have them all interact as a group, with 2 extra Spider-Men no less, is what made this work.
The fight in the apartment building between Peter and Norman as astounding, and is probably the most real-seeming fight ever depicted in a superhero film.
The ending is more than a little bit too much, and too pat, but that’s par for the course in this kind of movie.
