What do you think of the snazzy new night club format for my Online Dance Party? It seemed that by party number 7 it was time to spruce things up. I also invited hella kaiju to the dance, because the theme was Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. That’s the seventh film in the Godzilla series, and it became the seventh party in the Online Dance Party series. Yes, this is now 7 weeks in a row that we’ve been sheltering in place, and dancing at home.
When I started these dance parties, I searched Twitch to find other DJs but could find none. Now they’re everywhere! You can’t swing a dead kaiju without hitting a Twitch DJ. That’s been great for me because I’m meeting DJs from around the world. Plus, we raid one another’s streams. That’s Twitch-talk for when you end your show, you automatically shunt your audience into someone else’s room. From the standpoint of a DJ being raided it’s quite a moment. Suddenly 100 or so new people appear in your room at once and join an already-in-progress dance party.
Speaking of people dancing in a virtual room, I had another large audience, and the chatter in the Twitch room was more active than before. These parties have really become something fun to look forward to each week, not only for my audience but for me as well. A lot of friendships have been formed, and it’s been fun to see people I know from disparate parts of my life show up and meet other friends of mine.

Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster is lowkey one of the best Godzilla movies. The gangster subplot makes it so different.
