DJ G-Sharp
Sometimes, I transform from mild-mannered Greg Gioia into turntable hero DJ G-Sharp, music manipulator, wax mutilator, and turntablist extraordinaire. On those occasions, it’s all about turntables and vinyl records. And not just any vinyl records will do– I only play original pressings; no bootlegs, no re-issues.
DJ G-Sharp has four flavors to his persona:
Old School Hip Hop — I have a vast collection of 12″ singles and LPs of what I consider hip hop’s finest hour: 1979 to 1994. I put on a show that dazzles audiences, with live remixes, two-copy back-and-forth action, and turntable wizardly, all interwoven with the beat.
Funk, Soul, & Disco — I’ll take you back to the ’60s and ’70s with a mix of danceable hits and deep cut masterpieces.
Brit Pop — The ’90s were a glorious time for music, but only if you lived across the pond. I keep audiences dancing all night long to hits from Pulp, Suede, Blur, Oasis, along with some punk, post-punk, and mod hits mixed in, along with some modern indie rock, to round things out. Rule Britannia!
The ’80s! — I keep dancers mesmerized with smooth transitions and expertly beat-matched new wave and pop hits from the decade of neon sleaze.
Check out some mixes below that highlight my skills with vinyl!
